A great way to avoid the mess is to wrap the room with plastic sheeting. It can be purchsed in rolls from Lowes and Home Depot. Run a strip of 2″ masking tape at the top of the wall, stick the plastic sheeting under the tape and then another sheet on the floor. Basically turn the room into a big trash bag. Spray on the water, scrape off the ceiling, roll up the plastic and the room will be as clean as when you started.

AHHHHHCKKK I hate popcorn ceilings, costly to repair and to remove, I have seen it all, some huge the size of popcorn looking like stalagnite, some fine finish ones that are not too bad but suck any way. I think it was invented in the 30′s by a cheap contrator with sucky sheetrock tapers, I bet his brother another cheap contratcor also invented that retarded aluminum siding, All the crap we do in the name of LOW maintenance, I do not beleive in NO maintenace and nothing will ever last a LIFE TIME.
Even those platic looking sided houses they put up in the corn fields that look like an over sized monopoly board with no trees. Too much of every thing today is done for profit which can turn worse when its done by greed, Just look at our goverment. But no politics here. KILL POPCORN and hire some good tapers damn it.

Popcorn ceilings suck. We ended up snaking the garden hose inside, set to the “mist” spray and went to town. What a mess. I think we still have bits of fallen popcorn goop in various crevices of the house.
